General Information

This one-day course looks at the many methods used to communicate with each other including active listening, oral communication and written communication.  It is designed to assist individuals to develop a range of appropriate ways of communicating.

 

A range of training methods will be used in delivering the course content. This will assist in ensuring effective input of course material. Participants will be encouraged to take an active part in each session.

 

Aims & Objectives Of The Course

The aim of the course is to develop the skills of participants in verbal and written communication skills with the aim of utilising this knowledge to increase their effectiveness at work.  Participants will develop their skills, attitudes and knowledge in the areas of:

Evaluating their own individual communication skills

bullet

Appropriate use of techniques to develop communication skills

bullet

Utilising these skills to increase their effectiveness in the workplace

bullet

The promotion of good communication in their workplace

 

Objectives

By the end of the course participants should be able to:

List their strengths and needs in relation to communication skills

bullet

Demonstrate techniques to promote good communication

bullet

Develop a strategy for communicating effectively to be used in their work

bullet

Adopt a structured approach to written and verbal communication

bullet

Demonstrate their listening and communication skills

bullet

Create an action plan to develop their own communication skills further

 

Summary

The course is designed to be flexible and the content and setting can be varied to meet the particular requirements of individual groups.

 

 

Participants will be encouraged to adopt a supportive and positive approach to the group as a whole. It is hoped that this will allow individuals to achieve greater proficiency and confidence through taking part in a stimulating and enjoyable learning programme.
