Introduction:
The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) was
introduced to provide for disabled people to have the same legal right
to be treated equally to everyone else. Sheltered / Supported Housing
services have a legal requirement to comply with the DDA both within the
services they offer and the facilities they provide. This one day event
will enable service providers and staff to ensure that they comply to
the requirements of the DDA and that people with disabilities are
treated equally and that such disabilities do not become a reason for
discrimination. Participants will leave the event with the tools and
processes to recognise their own individual responsibilities in
complying to the DDA as well as that of their organisation. Attendees
will be receive a free copy of the SHN DDA Access Audit Self Assessment
Template for Sheltered / Supported Housing Schemes.
