Who is the Event for?
This event
is designed to assist students in obtaining a wider understanding of
their own self awareness and the impact this has in connection with
supporting others. Sections in this event cover three main areas
related to self-awareness and the helping process.
The three areas of study within this event are:
Unit 1:
Using Self Awareness when Supporting Others
Unit 2:
Promoting Equality and Diversity
Unit 3:
Managing Challenging Behaviour
Each unit
of study aims to enable students to develop their own self-awareness
further as well as widening their knowledge and understanding in the
particular topic it covers.
During
this module of study you may be asked to explore your own thoughts and
feelings in relation to particular points or issues that you face within
your daily work setting. This is to allow you the opportunity to
evaluate how your own thoughts and feelings can impact on the ways that
you provide assistance to service users. It is important to recognise
that this process is not designed to judge you as an individual, but as
a tool that you can utilise in assisting you to further develop your own
professional practice.
You will
explore how the promotion of self-awareness in both yourself and others
can play a vital role in empowering those that you support to maintain
autonomy and self-esteem, leading to the provision of service that
promotes an independent lifestyle.
