Who Course is for:

Staff working and delivering service to tenants/lessees living in sheltered housing and who, through their role, come into contact with:

Tenants/lessees and other service users,

Other team members and/or allied professionals who interact with service users

Relatives of service users

This course will also be beneficial for those line managers with a responsibility for staff involved in the running of sheltered housing schemes. It will enhance understanding and learning about the emotional and practical issues staff may face and enable managers to provide a more positive role in supporting such staff.

Defining Abuse
Recognising the signs of Abuse
Establishing a framework for investigating adult abuse
Working with victims and perpetrators – what involvement should sheltered housing staff have?
Facilitating a ‘partnership’ approach – utilising the resources of other agencies
Handling Disclosure – The issue of confidentiality
Examining scenarios of possible abuse and action that we would take
Practical matters associated with the management of abuse
Sources of support
