Introduction:

It is perhaps no accident that the Concise Oxford Dictionary makes no attempt to define ‘LEADERSHIP’.  It is a wide concept that is not easy to define in a few words.  However, it is of paramount importance that we understand the qualities of effective leadership if we are to succeed in leading teams to achieve their intended goals.  This dynamic event will provide you with a clear insight into techniques that will assist you to become an effective leader.  You will come away with the tools to develop your ability to motivate others and the skills to build and maintain high performing teams.

 

Who Course is for:

Service Managers, Line Managers, Supervisors and any others who are involved in leading teams.  This training may also be of interest and benefit to those looking to take on a team leadership / management role in the future.

 

Overall aim of the course:

  • To provide participants with an oversight of the principles of leadership and what makes an effective leader.

  • To enable participants to review their own leadership style and abilities and to recognise the impact that this has on the team(s) they lead.

  • To consider how current issues in relation to the provision of service will affect the teams functioning

  • To develop effective skills and commit to positive principles in order to become a dynamic team leader.

 

Course Objectives - What you should be able to do by the end of the course

  1. Identify the principles of leadership and how they apply to work

  2. Analyse your personal leadership style and the effect it has on the team

  3. Practice the personal skills involved in effective leadership and team membership

  4. Improve your own self awareness of how you function as a leader and the impact this has on others

  5. Recognise how current issues in relation to the provision of service will affect the teams functioning

  6. Produce an Action Plan for transferring the learning from this training to the workplace

 

Summary

The course is designed to be flexible and the content and setting can be varied to meet the particular requirements of individual groups.

 

Participants will be encouraged to adopt a supportive and positive approach to the group as a whole. It is hoped that this will allow individuals to achieve greater proficiency and confidence through taking part in a stimulating and enjoyable learning programme.
