General Information

This training is designed to provide participants with sufficient understanding of the principles of equalities and diversity to ensure fair access & exit and inclusion to all those that might need their service and so that they are equipped to deliver services in an inclusive and anti - discriminatory manner.

 

Suitable for

All staff who are involved in the delivery of support services, both front line staff & managers

  •   Equalities impact assessments

  •   How to monitor the effectiveness of policy & procedure

  •   Service user issues

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will have:-

  •   A better understanding of changing equalities & diversity legislation

  •   Understood how to put equalities & diversity policies into practice

  •   Understood how to monitor the effectiveness of EOP

  •   Understood how to meet the requirements of the C1.4

  •   Reflected on how to ensure fair access, diversity and inclusion into their eligibility criteria, referrals, assessments and allocations, paying particular attention to minority groups and those deemed “hard to reach”

  •   Reflected on how to ensure equalities and diversity issues are addressed into the delivery of support to service users

  •   Reflected on how to ensure a fair exit from the service

  •   Reflected on how to eliminate discrimination in the recruitment and selection of staff

  •   Understood how to develop an equalities action plan

  •   Understood how to carry out an equalities impact assessment

Summary

The course is designed to be flexible and the content and setting can be varied to meet the particular requirements of individual groups.

A range of training methods will be used in delivering the course content. This will assist in ensuring effective input of course material. Participants will be encouraged to take an active part in each session.

Participants will be encouraged to adopt a supportive and positive approach to the group as a whole. It is hoped that this will allow individuals to achieve greater proficiency and confidence through taking part in a stimulating and enjoyable learning programme.
