This one-day course
addresses the issues surrounding Fair Access & Diversity and considers
ways to ensure that best practice is performed by staff providing service
to users of the sheltered housing service.It is designed to help those staff to develop their skills to
enable them to recognise the impact of fair access & diversity in
relation to their working pattern.Participants
will look at ways they can ensure that they positively promote fair access
& diversity.
A range of training
methods will be used in delivering the course content. This will assist in
ensuring effective input of course material. Participants will be
encouraged to take an active part in each session.

Of The Course
The aim of the course is
to look at the way participants can develop their own understanding of
equal opportunities and actively promote a good equal opportunities
policy.Participants will
examine individual views, prejudices and attitudes and the powerful effect
this has on our whole approach to equality. Participants will develop
their skills, attitudes and knowledge in the areas of:
¨Examining their own individual views, attitudes and
prejudices
¨Making fair access & diversity an every day function
¨Organising their work environment and themselves to function
in a way that actively promotes fair access & diversity
¨Identifying inhibitors of good fair access & diversity
practice

diversity means
¨Recognise the need for an effective fair access &
diversity policy
¨Develop a fair access & diversity philosophy - and stick
to it!
¨Adopt a structured approach to promoting fair access &
diversity
¨Define areas that could inhibit effective fair access &
diversity
¨Create an action plan to develop their fair access &
diversity skills further
Summary
The course is designed to
be flexible and the content and setting can be varied to meet the
particular requirements of individual groups.
Participants
will be encouraged to adopt a supportive and positive approach to the
group as a whole. It is hoped that this will allow individuals to achieve
greater proficiency and confidence through taking part in a stimulating
and enjoyable learning programme.
