Introduction:

When providing support to people with disabilities do we ENABLE or DISABLE them to live a full and independent life? Do the services we provide EMPOWER or do they create DEPENDENCY? Does the individual have a disability or is it the environment and society they live in that disables them? This thought provoking one day event will challenge traditional concepts and attitudes towards disability. It will explore how those providing support can unwittingly create dependency. You will learn techniques that will create an empowering approach that enables people with disabilities to fully engage. You will discover how to support service users to take full advantage of support services in a way that enhances self esteem. You will leave this event with the tools to enable those that you support to have the power to control their destiny!
