Introducing the SHN CRITICAL FRIEND ANALYSIS service

This service provides your organisation with the opportunity to have your very own ‘Critical Friend Consultant’ who will work with you and guide you step-by-step in the development of services to meet the new contract requirements of the refreshed QAF.

Benefits for Smaller Providers

Smaller providers sometimes struggle to get evidence together, organised and presented for SP assessments.  The Critical Friend Analysis and ongoing support service may be of benefit to you in terms of developing areas of the service where basically, because of size and limited resources, it is proving very difficult.  The role of your SHN Critical Friend Consultant would be to work with you and pull together a finished product that effectively closes this gap, leaving you free to concentrate on operational issues but at the same time being able to meet the rising expectations of the refreshed QAF.  Our role would support this and take away the pain associated with pulling together numerous strands of documents, whilst at the same time recognising and closing gaps.

Benefits for Larger Providers

For larger providers, the Critical Friend Analysis and ongoing support service may be of benefit to you in terms of developing areas to gain ‘quick wins’ in getting from B to A, or C to B.  Your SHN Critical Friend Consultant would work with you and guide your service into an A or B assessment.

There will be an initial scoping meeting to include:

  • Review current strengths
  • Investigate potential opportunities
  • Identify recommendations from any previous SP review
  • Identify areas where improvement is needed
  • Identify any bespoke solutions that can be applied
  • Identify any ‘off the shelf’ solutions

The SHN Critical Friend Analysis Guarantee

We guarantee that after a scoping meeting and our involvement over the agreed number of days you will gain an A/B assessment, providing that you fully implement the recommendations of your SHN Critical Friend Consultant.  If your service does not receive an A/B assessment, SHN will conduct any additional work that the SP review identifies as necessary at no extra cost to your organisation.
